(Baonghean.vn)- On April 25, the US sent F-22 fighter jets to the Black Sea to participate in an exercise to demonstrate military support for NATO's Eastern European allies, who believe they are facing threats from Russia.

The US had previously deployed 12 F-22s at Lakenheath base in eastern England. As part of the exercise, Washington sent two F-22 fighter jets and a refueling plane from the UK to a Romanian air base on the Black Sea.

The US is seeking to reassure its allies in Eastern Europe by deploying a large-scale force there. In late March, the Pentagon announced plans to deploy an armored combat brigade to Eastern Europe from February 2017.

The US will deploy modern equipment for the brigade to Eastern Europe, and withdraw equipment that was previously deployed from the region for maintenance. According to the current structure, a US armored combat brigade has about 4,500 soldiers, dozens of heavy armored vehicles, tanks and equipment.

These moves are one of the reasons for the increased tension in relations between Russia and NATO, and Moscow has declared these are dangerous developments./.
