Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan was introduced to be elected as Chairwoman of the National Assembly.

The National Assembly Standing Committee has presented personnel for the National Assembly to elect the Chairwoman of the National Assembly and Chairwoman of the National Election Council, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

This afternoon (March 30), after the National Assembly dismissed Mr. Nguyen Sinh Hung from the positions of Chairman of the National Assembly and Chairman of the National Election Council, the National Assembly Standing Committee presented a report on the proposed personnel to elect the Chairman of the National Assembly and Chairman of the National Election Council.

According to the Report presented by Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong on behalf of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan - Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly was nominated for election to the two positions of Chairwoman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Chairwoman of the National Election Council.

National Assembly deputies will discuss the Report in groups. The results, acceptance and explanation of discussion opinions will be reported by the National Assembly Standing Committee to the National Assembly tomorrow morning (March 31) before the National Assembly discusses and votes to approve the list to elect the National Assembly Chairman and Chairman of the National Election Council.

Next, the National Assembly elected by secret ballot and voted to pass the Resolution to elect the Chairman of the National Assembly and Chairman of the National Election Council.

After being elected, the President of the National Assembly will take an oath of allegiance to the Fatherland, the People and the Constitution.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan will be the first female Chairwoman of the National Assembly if elected.

If elected, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan will become the first female Chairwoman in the history of the Vietnamese National Assembly and also the first female leader in key positions, leading the Party and State.

Ms. Ngan is from Ben Tre, born in 1954, and has held the positions of Director of the Department of Finance of Ben Tre province, Deputy Minister of Finance, Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Trade, and Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

Ms. Ngan was a member of the Party Central Committee from the 9th to the 12th tenures. At the first session of the 13th National Assembly, she was elected Vice President of the National Assembly.

At the 7th meeting of the Party Central Committee (11th term), Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan was elected to the Politburo and continued to be elected to the Central Committee, and was elected to the Politburo at the 12th National Party Congress.
