Why not do Union activities on Facebook?
“Instead of going to the village cultural house to listen to reports, discuss monthly plans..., youth union members only need to exchange via social networks, and participate in Union activities on Facebook” is the model that former Secretary of Vinh Phuc Provincial Youth Union Tran Viet Cuong wants to introduce through the Forum of Suggestions for the Union in Tien Phong newspaper.

As someone who has been involved with young people for many years, what is your opinion about today's young generation?
The young generation today has many outstanding advantages, that is, the majority of young people are aware of the good traditions of the nation, are dynamic, absorb a lot of the best knowledge of humanity, and actively integrate with the world. Many young people have affirmed themselves through activities at home and abroad. However, besides the advantages, a small number of them have revealed limitations in awareness, morality, lifestyle, behavior, and attitude that need better education from family, school and society, in which the role of the Youth Union is very important.
From that reality, what do you think the Youth Union should do to gather young people?
The need of youth is always to be creative and towards new things, especially the diversity of information in today's era, so it requires Youth Union organizations to strongly innovate in the way of organizing activities to take advantage of information technology, attract young people, not be idle. In particular, activities on social networking sites must arouse the voluntary and self-governing nature of young people with the guidance of youth organizations. Organizing activities must be based on the principle of what can be done for young people, not forcing them to participate in activities. Pay attention to practical activities to educate and orient young people.
Youth activities today are not limited to the family, unit, or area. Therefore, to effectively gather youth, the Youth Union needs to apply technological achievements in management. Using social networks (Facebook) in youth work is a good thing to do.
Through Facebook groups, the Union gathers young people from all over. Through social networks, many volunteer activities for the community organized by the Union can attract thousands of young people to participate. Many forums are also organized effectively with the enthusiastic participation of young people.
However, besides the positive side, social networking sites contain its negative side that affects the ideology, morality and lifestyle of the young generation. Therefore, the Youth Union through its core appearing on social networks helps to orient the values for the youth and bring the image of the Youth Union to the youth in the fastest way.
It is known that Vinh Phuc is one of the first localities to put the Union's activities on Facebook. How effective is this activity, sir?
In Vinh Phuc, the model of Youth Union activities through social networks has been deployed at a number of Youth Union bases. The Youth Union of Lung Ha village, Yen Phuong commune, Yen Lac district, has 250 Youth Union members who participate in Youth Union activities on Facebook; instead of going to the village cultural house to listen to reports, discuss monthly plans, etc., Youth Union members only need to communicate via social networks. From mobilizing to build rural roads, participating in cultural, artistic and sports activities during holidays, New Year, village festivals to helping students, poor people, volunteer activities, etc., all are informed on Facebook. From Facebook, the Youth Union of Lung Ha village raised more than 20 million to "Light up the village gate". Many Youth Union members intended to drop out of school, but when they went on Facebook, they were encouraged by many friends and brothers and sisters in the village to study hard.
Or like the Vinh Phuc International Students - Interns Club in Japan with hundreds of members. Despite the geographical distance, through social networks, Vinh Phuc Provincial Youth Union established the Vinh Phuc International Students - Interns Club in Japan to connect young people who are Vinh Phuc Youth Union members studying and working in Japan, sharing life experiences and helping each other.
Mr. Tran Viet Cuong, before holding the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vinh Phuc province, had 18 years of experience in the Youth Union. Mr. Cuong was honored to receive many Certificates of Merit from all levels from the Central to the grassroots, including the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister and the Third Class Labor Medal.
