On the afternoon of February 4, the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch coordinated with the Drug Control Team, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department and the City Police to discover a large amount of drugs transported by air in the form of gifts.
Accordingly, when checking a package shipped from Brazil to Ho Chi Minh City as a gift, the above-mentioned joint force discovered suspicious signs and conducted a physical inspection. Inside the package were stone statues of various birds and animals.

During the inspection, the customs force discovered 1.84 kg of cocaine (estimated to be worth more than 5 billion VND) hidden in the "guts" of 4 large stone statues of eagles. The subjects used the method of hollowing out the statues, stuffing drugs inside, and then reprocessing them in an attempt to deceive airport security forces.

The person who came to receive this package was Ms. NTHA (48 years old, residing in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City). This suspect was also arrested later for investigation and clarification.
It is known that this is the largest drug seizure since the beginning of 2016 through Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
