India and France aspire to be leaders in the use of clean energy.

(Baonghean.vn) - India and France have launched a potentially lucrative $1 trillion program to help developing countries fully harness their solar energy resources for a clean energy future.

At a meeting of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) at the United Nations headquarters, attended by representatives from over 25 countries, including the US, Brazil, Bangladesh, and Russia, India's Minister for Electricity, Coal and Renewable Energy, Piyush Goyal, and France's Environment Minister, Segolene Royal, announced that this program aims to support ISA members. In addition, the two ministers launched a second program to bring solar energy technology to farmers.

Minister Goyal stated that, in addition to providing clean energy and addressing climate change, harnessing solar energy has significant implications for energy security. He also affirmed that this program will help reduce costs, promote cooperation in research and development, and facilitate the wider deployment of solar energy technologies.

ISA is an alliance established by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Francois Hollande at the UN Climate Change Summit held in Paris in late 2015.
