Malaysia's National Security Minister has just said that the country discovered about 100 Chinese-registered boats entering Malaysian waters near Luconia Shoals in the East Sea on March 24.

Ships from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and the country's navy have been deployed to the area to monitor the situation, Minister Shahidan Kassim said, according to state news agency Bernama.

China claims sovereignty over most of the South China Sea, through which about $5 trillion worth of goods pass each year.

The news agency quoted Minister Shahidan as saying that Malaysia will take legal action if they discover Chinese ships violating Malaysia's Exclusive Economic Zone./.
