Speaking at the discussion hall on the Report on the term of the 13th National Assembly, on the morning of March 28, delegate Vo Thi Dung (HCMC delegation) frankly pointed out many concerns of the people and wished for stronger and more drastic activities of the National Assembly.
According to the delegate, the biggest concern for the nation is to protect the integrity of its territorial sovereignty. China has occupied a number of islands in Vietnam's Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos. The Party and State have a policy of resolutely and persistently fighting with peaceful means, but they are encroaching more and more.
The second concern that the delegate called "internal invasion" is that big corruption, small corruption, and petty corruption are increasing, deeply ingrained in the thinking of many people.
“We have to bribe, we have to run around, we have to give back, everything requires envelopes, which leads to a dangerous lifestyle. Wastefulness associated with corruption hinders the country’s progress,” said the delegate.
Referring to concerns about social moral degradation, delegate Vo Thi Dung said that “hypocrisy overwhelms true morality; pragmatism is increasingly popular in a part of society; then lies, robbery, food safety and hygiene and many other social problems cause insecurity for the people”.
Fourth is the concern about economic backwardness, low labor productivity, waste leading to depletion of resources and potential resources of the country due to incomplete innovation, not keeping up with the dynamic and creative world.
Another problem is high public debt without a fundamental solution, and concerns about large and frequent budget deficits due to overspending and waste that has not stopped. Along with that, traditional national culture is being lost.
In addition, voters and people are concerned about the lack of discipline in management and administration, leading to laxity and carelessness in implementation, reducing the effectiveness of policies and laws; weakening social order and security, and gradually losing the driving force for development.
Referring to the people's wishes, delegate Vo Thi Dung said: "The people's very reasonable wish is that the Party, State, and Government apparatus at all levels are truly elite, intelligent, truly honest, and dedicated; that a democratic, disciplined, peaceful society, and that national culture be maintained and developed sustainably..."
According to the delegate, people's concerns and wishes cannot be resolved overnight. There are issues that require long-term persistence and determination to achieve results.
However, what Delegate Dung believes the National Assembly can do is to make its activities more responsible, stronger, and more closely linked to the people's constant concerns and legitimate aspirations; and to make all activities of the National Assembly more public so that voters can monitor and supervise them, then the people will have confidence. That is a strong driving force for the development of society and the country./.
