(Baonghean) - After a period of experimenting with raising various types of poultry, in 2003, Mr. Tran Van Quang (52 years old) in Hamlet 1, Quynh Dien Commune, Quynh Luu District, received a barren swamp area and built a farm economic model.

With the commune's approval to re-bid for nearly 1 hectare of ponds, he hired workers and invested in digging ponds and building embankments. Thanks to his perseverance and hard work, gradually expanding each pond embankment while simultaneously investing, he spent over 3 years transforming his farm into a breeding ground for 1,000 ducks, which lay nearly 800 eggs daily, and two ponds yielding tons of fish including carp, tilapia, and other species annually.

Based on his previous experience selling duck eggs, Mr. Quang noticed an increasing demand for fertilized duck eggs, but few people were producing them. He searched everywhere to learn about the business model. Wherever he found a good model that suited his family's circumstances, he and his son would go there.

In 2004, his family bought their first incubator for nearly 3 million VND. After a while, realizing the incubator's capacity was too small and didn't meet demand, in 2008, Mr. Quang invested over 60 million VND to buy two more larger incubators. With a capacity of 2,500 eggs per day, his family not only incubates fertilized duck eggs but also provides poultry hatching services for local people.

Word spread quickly, and whenever people needed ducklings, they would bring their eggs to the hatchery for incubation. Through the production of fertilized duck eggs and the provision of breeding stock, Mr. Quang's family not only sells their own eggs but also supplies 30% of the eggs in the area and provides breeding stock to most of the livestock farmers in the commune.

After more than 10 years of developing the model, Mr. Quang's family has become millionaires with the most prosperous economic situation in the commune. Besides providing a stable income of 7-8 million VND/month for 5-7 family members, Mr. Quang also owns 3 hatcheries worth nearly 200 million VND, and a duck and fish farm worth over 300 million VND.

From Mr. Quang's initial model in Hamlet 1, Quynh Dien commune now has 15 large-scale duck farms in Hamlets 2 and 5; Quynh Dien has become one of the largest communes in Quynh Luu district in terms of duck egg farming, balut production, and poultry breeding.

With nearly 15 years of experience in developing this model, Mr. Quang has extensive expertise in caring for and supervising laying ducks.

Mr. Ho Trung Kien, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Quynh Dien commune, said: "Coming from a poor background, but thanks to his perseverance and hard work, Mr. Quang has succeeded and become a successful farmer in the commune for many years. His children have also followed their father's example in business; all four of his children have their own families, houses, stable jobs, and participate in the family farm production chain..."

In 2013, he was honored as an exemplary farmer in Quynh Luu district. Besides being a successful businessman, he is also a caring and responsible person who looks after his family and his neighbors. Following Mr. Quang's model, 14 hectares of wetlands in Vinh Loc, Nhi Khang, etc., have been renovated by local people to create poultry and fish-rice farming models, increasing income per unit area by 2-3 times compared to before.
