According to the source, it is possible that North Korea will demonstrate a simulated attack, using artillery to attack a model of the South Korean Presidential Palace in front of delegates attending the congress that opens on the morning of May 6.

Yonhap news agency reported that South Korean intelligence confirmed that North Korea had built a smaller-than-life model of the South Korean presidential office at the Daewon-ri training ground just outside the capital Pyongyang, and the source, who requested anonymity, said about 50 artillery pieces, including several 122-mm multiple rocket launchers, had been deployed at a site about 1 kilometer away from the mock-up.

“We are looking into whether North Korea invited senior party officials who are attending the congress to witness the drill. We are closely watching the situation,” the source was quoted as saying.

However, the source also said he was not sure whether the time for the exercise had been set yet./.
