Mr. Son: Tornado damaged hundreds of hectares of spring corn

(Baonghean.vn)- From 9:00 p.m. on April 9 to 1:00 a.m. on April 10, a tornado occurred in Anh Son district, damaging hundreds of hectares of spring corn in the area.

Corn acreage is mainly planted on the Lam River banks, so every year in early April tornadoes often occur.

In the spring crop of 2016, Anh Son district planted more than 3,000 hectares of corn on alluvial and semi-arid land. Currently, the corn is in the stage of flowering and silking. On the evening of April 9, a tornado destroyed nearly 300 hectares of spring corn in Hoi Son, Tam Son, Duc Son and Cam Son communes, of which Tam Son suffered 210 hectares of damage, Cam Son 10.6 hectares, Hoi Son 53 hectares and Duc Son 25 hectares. The area of ​​​​over 70% loss was 83.5 hectares, in Tam Son communes 40 hectares, Hoi Son 45.3 hectares.

District leaders and the Anh Son district agricultural department inspected the affected corn area.

Immediately after receiving the information, comrade Hoang Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee and the District Department of Agriculture went directly to the grassroots, together with localities and people to overcome the consequences caused by natural disasters.
