The MiG-29 is a 4th generation multirole fighter, considered one of the best jet fighters of the Russian Air Force.

A unique feature of the MiG-29 is the ability to take off with a combat load on one engine and start the second engine while already in the air, which allows saving time in case of emergency takeoff.

The MiG-29 is designed to play the role of air superiority in combat areas; to protect military units and logistics facilities from enemy air strikes; as well as to counter enemy air reconnaissance activities day and night, and in all weather conditions.

In addition to destroying air targets at medium and short ranges, the MiG-29 can also hit moving and static targets on land and at sea.

The MiG-29 was designed to compete with new American fighters such as the F-16 Fighting Falcon, F/A-18 Hornet and Mirage 2000. In many respects the MiG-29 is considered a superior aircraft to its rivals.

The MiG-29 fighter is 17.37m long, has a wingspan of 11.4m, an empty weight of 11,000 kg, and a maximum take-off weight of 21,000 kg. The MiG-29 is equipped with two Klimov RD-33 engines, each with a thrust of 81.4 kN.

The MiG-29 fighter has a maximum speed of Mach 2.4 (about 2,800 km/h), a range of 700 km (when fighting) and 2,900 km (when patrolling), and a ceiling of 18,000 m.
