On March 30, the Ky Son District People's Court held a public trial for the illegal drug trafficking case against defendant Ha Y Du, 37 years old, residing in Tay Son commune (Ky Son district).

According to the indictment of the Ky Son District People's Procuracy, at approximately 6:00 AM on January 7, 2016, Y Du traveled from Tay Son commune to the border commune of Nam Can to purchase 2.45g of narcotics from an unidentified Thai ethnic man for personal use. He was arrested by the Ky Son District Police upon arriving at Truong Son village (Nam Can).

In court, defendant Ha Y Du admitted her illegal actions and asked for leniency from the law. It is known that Y Du's family is facing hardship; her husband is serving a prison sentence for drug trafficking, Y Du herself is an addict, and she is raising a minor child.

The Ky Son District People's Court sentenced defendant Ha Y Du to 27 months in prison for the crime of buying, selling, and possessing narcotics.
