Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc meets Chairman of the Russian State Duma

"The State Duma highly agrees and supports the policy of developing a comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam," the State Duma Chairman emphasized.

During his official visit to the Russian Federation on May 17, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Chairman of the State Duma (lower house) of the Russian Federation, Mr. Sergey Naryshkin.

State Duma Chairman Sergey Naryshkin welcomed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc leading a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to visit Russia.

The meeting took place in an open and friendly atmosphere. Chairman of the State Duma Sergey Naryshkin expressed his pleasure to welcome the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and emphasized: “The Russian State Duma in general and all parties represented in the Duma, including major parties such as the United Russia Party, the Communist Party, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Just Russia Party... all highly agree and support the policy of developing a comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam.”

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome that the Russian side gave to the delegation during their visit to the Russian Federation.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc congratulated the Russian Federation on its achievements in stabilizing and developing its socio-economy, enhancing its position as a great power, in which the Russian State Duma, as an agency ensuring the legal framework for the country's development, played a very important role in this success; emphasizing that Vietnam prioritizes developing a comprehensive strategic partnership with the Russian Federation.

Chairman of the State Duma Sergey Naryshkin warmly congratulated Vietnam on its impressive achievements in national construction and development, congratulated the Communist Party of Vietnam on successfully organizing the 12th National Congress, setting out important development directions for Vietnam in the next 5-10 years; and sent his regards and warm congratulations to Vietnam's senior leaders.

The two sides expressed their satisfaction with the positive development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. Political relations have been continuously strengthened with high trust. Exchanges of delegations at all levels have taken place regularly, creating a strong driving force for the implementation of comprehensive cooperation in all fields.

Prime Minister and State Duma Chairman Sergey Naryshkin expressed his delight at the positive developments and close coordination between the Vietnamese and Russian National Assemblies in recent times, which in 2016 will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of cooperative relations between the two countries' National Assemblies; and highly appreciated the fact that the two National Assemblies regularly meet, exchange information and legislative experience, making an important contribution to the national construction and development of each side.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc suggested that the legislative bodies of the two countries continue to strengthen cooperation in the international arena and coordinate with each other in protecting the effectiveness and high enforceability of international treaties to which both sides are parties, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc conveyed to Mr. Naryshkin the regards and invitation to visit Vietnam from Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Also today, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation laid flowers at the Monument to the Unknown Soldiers and visited Lenin's Mausoleum on Red Square.
