Speaking in Congress, Mr. Sapin further warned that those who have money laundering or tax fraud transactions with the Mossack Fonseca Company in Panama will have to bear all the consequences.
According to the French Ministry of Finance, the list of countries and territories that do not cooperate with France in the fight against tax evasion is updated in the direction of “removal or addition” on January 1 every year, after examining the situation of the countries in the cooperation terms with France. In 2012, France removed Panama from the above list after the two countries signed an agreement on combating tax evasion (ETNC).
After the "Panama Papers" were revealed, French prosecutors said they would immediately investigate tax fraud cases related to Mossack Fonseca Company, and announced that appropriate sanctions would be taken against tax evaders.
A series of leaked documents related to the activities of the Mossack Fonseca law firm show that this company has helped many powerful figures as well as world leaders in money laundering and tax evasion./.
