Traveling about 5,600km across the country, Tran Manh Linh realized his dream of traveling across Vietnam even though he only had 5 million VND with him.

Sharing the reason for traveling alone across Vietnam, Manh Linh said: “Before making the trip, I had no intention of going online to invite people because this is a long journey, we need to get along to be able to comfortably travel and explore. However, I also “persuaded” my friends to go with me, but everyone was busy, so I had to go alone.”

The total cost of the trip was only 4 million 800 thousand VND because Manh Linh took advantage of the combination of visiting relatives, friends and asking to stay overnight (only 50% of the trip cost was for resting at a motel). With the purpose of exploring the beautiful scenery of Vietnam (especially the coastal road) combined with visiting relatives, Manh Linh divided his journey into two directions: On the outbound leg, he went from Hanoi along the route of Quang Ngai - Tay Nguyen - Saigon - Ca Mau. On the return leg, he started from Ca Mau to Can Tho, went to Vung Tau and then followed the coastal road back to Hanoi.

After completing a 17-day journey across Vietnam, traveling more than 5,600km, he returned and started working on the photo series “Perspective” - recording the landscapes and landmarks he had visited. After the photo series was posted, many people commented that Manh Linh’s art product was no different from the photo series “Holding your hand and traveling around the world”, the only difference being that instead of “holding your hand”, he was holding a selfie stick.

Concealing his solo travel from his family, Linh planned to start his journey from Hanoi to Ca Mau and then back to the capital. During his trip, he revealed that he would only travel during the day, and he also clearly outlined his destinations for each day so as not to waste time and to get enough rest to regain his strength. Before leaving, Linh also tried to contact relatives and friends to ask for a place to stay, saving money for his long journey.

The place that left the most impression on Manh Linh was Eo Gio - Binh Dinh. Although Thi Nai bridge has been built, making it convenient for exploration, Eo Gio is still very wild and interesting.

What helped Manh Linh complete this journey was perseverance and willpower, because throughout the journey, there were times when he felt discouraged and wanted to turn back. Even when he returned to Hanoi and only had 200,000 VND left in his pocket, he was still very proud of himself for being able to cross 5,600km of the country by himself.
