To let his child get married early, the chairman of the Commune Front Committee voluntarily resigned.

The wedding was held lavishly despite repeated warnings and records by local authorities.

On March 24, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Hung District (Long An), said that Mr. Vo Viet Thu, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Chau A Commune, had just submitted his resignation after organizing an early marriage for his child.

Previously, at the end of December 2015, despite the intervention of the local authorities and the recording of a report, Mr. Thu still held a grand wedding for his youngest son, VBP, and a child living in the same commune, NKT, when both of them were not old enough to get married.

The fact that Mr. Thu was a commune leader but violated the law made local public opinion angry. After being questioned by local authorities, Mr. Thu submitted his resignation.
