Azerbaijan prepares to attack the capital of Nagorny Karabakh
Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry said on April 4 that its military would prepare to attack the capital of the self-proclaimed Nagorny Karabakh Republic (NKR) Stepanakert if Armenian-backed forces continued to fire on civilians near the area.
Fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan continues despite international calls for the two neighbors to end the conflict in the disputed region of Nagorny Karabakh.

On the same day, Armenian television quoted a Nagorny-Karabakh military source as saying that 20 soldiers of this force were killed and 72 others were injured.
Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan predicted on April 4 that ally Azerbaijan would "one day" regain control of Nagorny Karabakh as violent clashes between Azerbaijani and Armenian forces entered their third day.
"We stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers in Azerbaijan today. This act of terrorism cannot continue forever. One day Karabakh will return to its original owner, Azerbaijan," Erdogan said.
The Nagorny Karabakh region was captured by Armenian rebels during the 1994 conflict.
The territory is currently controlled by Armenian-backed separatists.
Türkiye, which has close cultural and linguistic ties with Azerbaijan, is a key ally of Baku.
Meanwhile, Ankara has no diplomatic relations with Armenia due to disputes over the mass massacre of Armenians during the Ottoman Empire, which Yerevan considers a genocide./.
