That is the warning of scientists at the Mayo Clinic (USA) after discovering a type of cell called senescent cells that contributes to diseases and other age-related health conditions, according to The Times of India newspaper.
Specifically, the research team discovered that exercise prevents the accumulation of premature aging cells, while protecting the body from all the harmful effects of an unhealthy diet.
“We think that at both the biological and clinical levels, poor diet and inactivity accelerate aging,” said lead researcher Nathan LeBrasseur, adding: “This doesn’t mean we need to become marathon runners, but rather that we should maintain regular exercise habits to stay healthy and delay aging and prevent age-related diseases.”
