(Baonghean.vn) - In late April, when the weather is cool and filled with the gentle, subtle fragrance of forest flowers mixed with corn and rice blossoms, people in mountainous districts like Anh Son and Con Cuong begin to see makeshift camps set up by nomadic beekeepers.

The mobile beekeeping profession, moving from place to place according to the flowering seasons, is still relatively new in Anh Son. However, during this season when the forest flowers bloom, mobile bee farms have arrived and set up shop in Anh Son.

Mr. Nguyen Van Van from My Duc district, Hanoi, said: "Beekeepers never stay in one place. They constantly move from province to province, from the lychee and longan flowering season in the northern provinces, the coffee season in the Central Highlands, to the melaleuca, corn, and rice flowering seasons in Nghe An and Ha Tinh. But no matter how long the flowering season is, beekeepers never stay in one place for more than two months."

In areas with abundant flowering plants, beekeepers typically harvest honey every 8-10 days. Before extracting the honey, the bee frames are removed from the hive and the young bees are swept into the hive, leaving behind heavy streams of honey. Each hive can yield 3-10 kg of pure honey.

With over 300 bee colonies, Mr. Nguyen Van Van from Duc My district, Hanoi, harvests about 1 ton of honey each time. After harvesting, companies send trucks to collect the honey directly from his farm at a price of 20,000-30,000 VND per kilogram. Calculated over a harvest, Mr. Van earns between 20-30 million VND.
