New Chief Justice of the Supreme Court: 'I vow to do my best to enforce justice'

In his first speech in his new position, new Chief Justice Nguyen Hoa Binh affirmed that he "will always keep in mind his oath, wholeheartedly protect justice and protect human rights".

With 95% of votes in favor, Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh (former Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy) was elected Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court on the morning of April 8.

In his first speech in his new position, Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh affirmed that this is an honor but also a great responsibility. He said that he will always remember and fully carry out his oath, vowing to use all his intelligence and strength, together with the collective to promote tradition, unite to build a clean and strong People's Court, serving the public and upholding the law, being impartial and impartial, always obeying the law, relying on the law to enforce justice, resolutely fighting against crime, wholeheartedly protecting the right, protecting human rights, civil rights, and fulfilling the tasks of the trial agency - the center of implementing the judicial power of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Before being elected Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, he was Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy; member of the Party Central Committee; and deputy of the 13th National Assembly.

He was a major general, deputy director of the General Department of Police, director of the Department of Investigation of Corruption Crimes (Ministry of Public Security), deputy secretary, and secretary of Quang Ngai province.

In the 2013 vote of confidence, Mr. Binh received 198 high-confidence votes (ranked 27th out of 47 key positions). In 2014, his high-confidence votes increased to 207 votes (ranked 10th).
