Vietnamese-origin player Lee Nguyen was called up to play in Copa America
Midfielder Lee Nguyen has been called up by coach Jurgen Klinsmann to the preliminary list of 40 players of the US national team to prepare for Copa America 2016 at home.
Yesterday, coach Jurgen Klinsmann announced the preliminary list of 40 players preparing for Copa America 2016 this summer. Accordingly, Vietnamese-origin midfielder Lee Nguyen continues to be included.
This is not too surprising because since the beginning of the year, Lee Nguyen has always been on the US team's roster for friendly matches and 2018 World Cup qualifiers, even though he has not played regularly.

Currently, Lee Nguyen is also maintaining stable form at New England Revolution. Last weekend, he had an assist in the 2-2 draw with Orlando City.
If he continues to maintain this form, Lee Nguyen will have a great chance to be included in the final 23-man list for Copa America 2016. If selected, Lee Nguyen will have his second Copa America with the US team. Previously, he attended Copa America 2007 in Venezuela.
In addition to Lee Nguyen, the preliminary list of 40 players of the US team also includes other notable names such as goalkeeper Tim Howard, Chelsea defender Matt Miazga, veteran midfielder Michael Bradley, experienced striker Clint Dempsey and young talent Pulisic of Dortmund.
According to the Organizing Committee's regulations, the teams will finalize their official list for Copa America 2016 on May 20. The US team will gather from May 16 before having three friendly matches against Puerto Rico, Ecuador and Bolivia.
In this Copa America, the US team is in Group A with Colombia, Costa Rica and Paraguay./.
