Archaeologists from Italy and Egypt have proven that the Tutankhamun knife is of extraterrestrial origin.

The Tutankhamun dagger is one of two daggers discovered by British archaeologist Howard Carter in 1925 during excavations of the pharaoh's tomb. The study was published in the journal Meteoritics & Planetary Science, and The Guardian also reported briefly.

Archaeologists believe the dagger was made of meteorite material. The blade is composed mainly of iron, with unusually high concentrations of nickel and cobalt. Meteorites found off the coast of Egypt's Red Sea contain similar components.

Researchers also point out that ancient Egyptian texts repeatedly mention incidents of iron falling from above. Previously, archaeologists have found items that the ancient Egyptians made from pieces of meteorites.

Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun of the XVIII Dynasty of the New Kingdom ruled the country from about 1332-1323 BC.
