After many hours of ambush, Son was arrested.

Before that, at around 10am on April 17, Chu Van Son showed signs of being high on drugs, suddenly restrained Nguyen Van Quang (Son's cousin), and took another motorbike from a passerby. Holding a knife to his neck, Son forced Quang to drive the motorbike around many streets. More than 3 hours later, when forcing the hostage to go near his house to drink water and smoke tobacco, Son was successfully arrested by the police.

The investigation agency confirmed that Chu Van Son was HIV positive and had 6 previous convictions. Two months ago, Son had just finished his prison term and returned to his hometown. Son has a wife and 3 children.

As the person who directly controlled Chu Van Son to rescue the hostage, Dien Bich commune security officer Nguyen Van Diep was scratched and stained with Son's blood. Currently, Mr. Diep is taking HIV exposure medication.

On April 19, Mr. Diep was awarded a certificate of merit by Nghe An Provincial Police for his outstanding achievements in the fight against crime, contributing to maintaining security and order in the area.

Sharing with reporters, Mr. Diep was very happy but a bit worried when he was scratched and had HIV-infected blood from the suspect during the arrest.
