(Baonghean.vn) - Mixing chopped water hyacinth with ground corn and commercial feed to make duck feed is an innovative method used by Mr. Nguyen Huu Thao, the owner of a farm with thousands of ducks in Loc Thanh hamlet, Nam Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district. By doing this, Mr. Thao saves 1.5 million VND per day on duck feed costs, and the ducks grow faster and have tastier meat.

 | | Water hyacinth is harvested and then put into a grinder to be finely chopped. |
| Then, mix it with corn bran. |
| Mr. Nguyen Huu Thao said that his family is raising 5,000 young ducks, requiring 250 kg of feed per meal, of which water hyacinth accounts for 30%, cornmeal 30%, and commercial feed 60%. |
| These three types of feed are mixed together and given to the ducks. Mr. Thao is currently the only person in Yen Thanh using water hyacinth to prepare feed for ducks. |
| According to Mr. Thao, feeding ducks water hyacinth and cornmeal helps them grow feathers faster, mature quickly, and produce better quality meat, especially saving costs. Without water hyacinth and cornmeal, 5,000 ducks would consume 10 bags of commercial feed per day, equivalent to 3.2 million VND, but now only 6 bags are needed. Through hard work, he saves 1.5 million VND per day. |
