Last weekend, the foreign ministers of Russia and China urged the United States to abandon its plan to deploy a missile shield in South Korea, which the United States says is to protect its ally from threats from North Korea. The White House said the shield would not affect the security of other countries if installed in South Korea and that everything was still under discussion.
Russia and China do not want this to happen, fearing that the defense system will affect the strategic security of the two countries. In response to the US, Russia and China will conduct missile defense exercises at the Russian missile research center this month, CNA quoted the Chinese Ministry of Defense today.
Accordingly, the exercise will increase the adaptability between the two countries' armies in the process of data transmission and control structure.
Following North Korea's nuclear and missile tests, the United States and its ally South Korea have discussed the possibility of deploying the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system on South Korean territory.
North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile tests have angered its ally China, which has decided to back a UN Security Council resolution imposing sanctions. However, Chinese President Xi Jinping has vowed to "not allow war or chaos" on the Korean peninsula.
