Speaking to Zing.vn, Colonel Nguyen Trung Thuc - Director of Lang Son Provincial Police said that Duc is an important link in the transnational drug ring. In the process of fighting this gang, local police arrested nearly 20 suspects.
According to the head of Lang Son Police, at 2:00 p.m. on April 29, the task force discovered Duc driving a car carrying contraband goods towards Hanoi, so they arranged forces to stop the car for inspection.
However, the suspect with a drug conviction did not obey orders and accelerated to flee towards a residential area. After more than 20 km of running, the Mazda driven by Duc plunged into a deep hole in an alley on Xuong Giang Street, Met Town, Huu Lung District.

“Kicking the car door open, he jumped out, holding two guns in both hands and fired back at the pursuing forces. Seeing no way out, the suspect hid in a residential area with complex terrain, occasionally firing outside,” said Colonel Thuc.
Although the police repeatedly called on him to surrender, Duc ignored them. Whenever he suspected someone was approaching, he opened fire. To ensure the safety of the people, the local police mobilized 50 riot police and special police to the scene. The road near where the suspect was hiding was blocked off.
Bringing in sniffer dogs, the police determined that the drug lord was hiding in a space between two houses. For four hours, the suspect was uncooperative.
The order to fire tear gas was given by the task force. After three consecutive explosions, Duc lost his ability to resist and was restrained and taken to the car.
Searching the person and vehicle, the police seized a K54 gun, a Colt gun, about 3 kg of crystal meth, 4 swords and related evidence.
That same night, the task force urgently searched Tran Ba Duc's residence in Lang Son, seizing 4 more heroin cakes, 500 synthetic drug pills, and 200 grams of American weed.
In addition, the police also seized drug molds, AK guns, pistols, shotguns, 2 grenades and 163 bullets.
