(Baonghean.vn) - Implementing the project of "restructuring the agricultural sector" and encouraging the application of high technology in agricultural production, Dien Chau now has a model of growing melons in greenhouses.

After graduating from the Agricultural University and being given priority by Dien Chau district to study high-tech agricultural production models in the southern provinces, Mr. Hoang Van Huong in Hamlet 7, Dien Thanh Commune decided to invest in growing melons in greenhouses.

Khu nhà lưới với diện tích 1000m2 đã được hoàn thành
The 1,000m2 greenhouse has been completed.

On an area of 1,000m2, after 2 months of construction with an investment of about 500 million VND, the greenhouse was completed and 3,000 melon plants were planted.

The greenhouse frame is made of iron and steel, the frame can withstand 25 tons of wire and fruit hanging on the cable. The greenhouse is surrounded by thin sheet fishing line, the top is covered with special nylon. Inside there is a system of hanging cables, automatic control system of sun-blocking net, Israeli-style drip irrigation technology, air conditioning system.

The greenhouse can withstand level 9 storms. Fertilization combined with drip irrigation is delivered to the roots at the required level and is completely automatic.

Growing melons in greenhouses not only helps block rain but also prevents insects from entering, helping to reduce production costs (due to not using pesticides to prevent harmful insects).

Although the initial investment capital according to this model is relatively high, in return the melons have high productivity, good fruit quality, sell for a good price, and earn high profits, so the ability to recover the initial investment capital is quick.

3,000 melon plants imported from Ho Chi Minh City are grown in greenhouses.

On the other hand, the growing period of melons is relatively short, from planting to harvest, about 55-60 days, so it can be grown 3-4 times a year. After the first trial crop, we will no longer grow melons on the ground but on substrates.

Melon is a fruit vegetable belonging to the gourd family, grown in China, Türkiye, Iran, the US, Spain... In Vietnam, due to soil conditions, climate, and botanical characteristics, melons are grown mainly in the South and are currently commonly grown in Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City... Each hectare of melon brings in an income of up to billions of VND/year.
