Young Americans are buzzing about a dangerous new trend that doesn't require drugs or weed to experience a psychedelic state, but instead uses potted plant seeds.

Massachusetts State Police (USA) said several teenagers in Seekonk, Rhode Island were hospitalized after crushing and swallowing seeds of morning glory, Hawaiian wood rose and Sleepy grass.

As a result, the seeds of these flowers have been removed from garden stores to prevent this from happening. Seeds of morning glory, Hawaiian wood rose, and Sleepy grass contain lysergic acid amide, a hallucinogen similar to the dangerous stimulant LSD.

When chewing and swallowing these seeds, users will be affected in vision, causing paranoia, confusion and even vomiting.

Seekonk Police Chief Craig Mace said his department has investigated and found the seeds in schools across the area. He also warned parents to be aware of this dangerous new trend.

While it is legal to purchase the seeds of these plants, it is illegal to extract lysergic acid amide.

Morning glory and Hawaiian wood rose are native to South America and Africa and have black seeds. Sleepy grass seeds, on the other hand, grow well in dry soil and are common in the Middle East.
