"We have finished preclinical studies with the drug against Zika infection in cases of emergence in humans and obtained very good results. Now we plan clinical studies. I think that in the near future there will be a decision on allowing trials," - said Ms. Skvortsova.

The research was conducted at the Institute of Influenza of the Russian Ministry of Health in Saint-Peterburg. The Russian Health Minister announced that the country has patented testing systems for the detection of the Zika virus, the registration procedure is being completed at Roszdravnadzor.

"According to all the test data, it is a very high-quality and highly sensitive test system," - Minister Veronika Skvortsova emphasized.
