Outstandingly surpassing more than 1,000 candidates from 373 primary schools in Hanoi, Nguyen Cuong Linh, a student of class 5G, schoolNghia Tan Primary School has become the new champion of the 13th Hanoi Primary School English Olympiad.

Having won first prize in the Internet English Contest - IOE at the district level, and first prize in the Summer English Scholarship Contest for excellent students organized by Language Link Vietnam, Linh's leading position in the English Olympiad in the 2015-2016 school year is not a surprise.

This male student said that he has a special love for English so he can study this foreign language at any time, even when he is at school and at home. "I don't only study by doing homework, but also by playing games, reading books, watching movies...", Linh shared.

To succeed in the elementary English Olympic rounds, Linh said she studies regularly every day, not too much, just needs to concentrate on studying for a period of time each day. Linh also uses English in daily life such as reading books, watching movies... In particular, it is necessary to focus on learning grammar through sentence structures, tenses... in stories and books.

Linh also has a special passion for books and can read books at any time, especially English books. Linh's mother, Phuong Minh Nguyet, said that Linh loves reading books so much that every time she goes to the bookstore, she is so engrossed in reading that she forgets to go home.

"That's why Linh decided to use the prize for being the champion of the English Olympic to buy books that she really liked but hadn't been able to buy yet," said Ms. Nguyet.

Linh has a special passion for books.

Besides, English entertainment activities have also helped Linh a lot in accumulating more vocabulary as well as listening and speaking skills.

"I dream of becoming a diplomat in the future. Because this job will help me use English regularly, as well as"I discovered interesting things about many countries around the world," Linh shared.

To make her dream come true, besides studying English diligently, Linh also studies hard in all fields to have comprehensive knowledge, including economics, culture, and society. Linh tries to read books in both English and Vietnamese about these topics.

"Being a diplomat also requires many necessary skills such as presentation, negotiation, or situation handling... Therefore, I am taking advantage of every opportunity to improve and perfect this ability by participating in hosting the English Olympic competition, participating in the English children's book storytelling contest by topic," Linh shared.
