5 tricks of bad guys to cheat people in the mountainous areas of Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Due to the difficult life and limited knowledge, people in mountainous and highland districts are often taken advantage of by bad guys for illegal profits. Below are some of the scams that people often fall prey to.
1. Seducing and luring women to go to China
This trick has been around for many years now, bad guys often meet women in villages, including teenage girls, and draw a vision of a "promised land". There, the work is easy, the income is high, and the material life is abundant. Although it sounds good, many women have been taken advantage of by bad guys, turned into "goods", and taken across the border for exchange. Most of the women were sold to Chinese men to be wives, or taken to "dens" of prostitution.

Ms. Kha Thi Hoa in Lap village, Ngoc Lam commune (Thanh Chuong) was once taken to China by her aunt Quang Thi Thuan and promised a high-income job. But in fact, Hoa went there to work as a hired hand, the work was hard, so she found a way to escape back home in 2013. |
Families fall into misfortune, parents lose their children, husbands lose their wives, children lose their mothers. Even more sadly, there are cases where the people who entice and entice are relatives, sometimes even aunts or sisters. And many parents are "dizzy" by money, willing to accept tens of millions of dong and then let their children wander in a foreign land.
2. Inviting men to work for hire
Taking advantage of the lack of jobs, "brokers" often go to the villages to entice middle-aged men, young men, and sometimes even teenagers to work for hire. They often promise high wages and not hard work. Lacking money, many people pack up and follow and soon become "disillusioned". Because in reality, they are taken to illegal mining sites such as stone mines, gold mines, harsh working conditions, labor exploitation, while wages are meager, and some people are even confiscated by the owners.

Five years ago, Mr. Lo Van Thin in Hamlet 1, Tien Ky Commune (Tan Ky) escaped from a gold mine in Phuoc Son District (Quang Nam) due to harsh working conditions and no salary. Before that, Mr. Thi and some others were promised light work with high income by a person in the same commune. |
Many people were brutally beaten, leaving injuries all over their bodies, forcing them to find a way to escape back to their hometowns. Disasters are always lurking, life safety is threatened, the gold mine collapse in Quang Nam that killed 4 people (including 3 brothers from Bao Thang commune (Ky Son - Nghe An), including 3 brothers) is proof. Those who were lucky enough to return always carry with them the haunting memories of the days of torment in "hell on earth".
3. Consumption of counterfeit goods
The mountainous areas are ideal locations for swindlers and scammers to sell counterfeit, fake, low-quality goods of unknown origin. From food, beverages to clothing, household goods (gas stoves, induction cookers, rice cookers, water purifiers...).
They often deliver to each home, lobbying and convincing the homeowner about the superior features, guaranteed quality, and affordable prices. Many people have accidentally been "trapped" when buying poor quality products without warranty.

4. Sign installation contract
To carry out this trick, the bad guys often come to the house, bring household products (rice cookers, gas stoves, induction cookers...) and ask the homeowner to sign a contract to put up an advertising sign in front of the premises and pay the rent. But to proceed to sign the contract, the homeowner must first buy at least 1 product at an "exorbitant" price. These fake "employees" often dress politely, drive luxury cars, and speak fluently, so they can easily "conquer" reluctant customers.

Mr. Luong Van Nho in Nam Dinh village, Chi Khe commune (Con Cuong) bought this induction cooker for 3.9 million VND, much higher than the market price, not to mention the brand has not been confirmed in the home appliance market. This comes from the fact that he agreed to sign a contract to set up an advertising sign, and was paid an annual rent for the location. But when the induction cooker was sold, the scammer ran away (Photo: Huu Vi). |
After selling the product, the scammers immediately ran away, calling to find reasons to delay, to evade and gradually "disappear". When the homeowner realized they had been scammed, it was too late...
5. Ordering worthless pieces of paper
In recent years, groups of people from far away brought cameras, printers and materials to each village and each family to persuade them to take photos and make worthless certificates. Their trick was to meet local authorities and associations (Veterans, Elderly, Farmers...) to make "Golden Book of Memories" and take free photos for members. From there, they enticed members to make Association certificates to get money at a price of hundreds of thousands of dong.

These types of certificates are actually worthless, and scammers have charged people hundreds of thousands of dong per certificate. |
For example, the certificate of "Eight Golden Words of Honor" for members of the Veterans Association, "The Older the Age, the Higher the Intelligence" for members of the Elderly Association. In fact, this is a scam, using the name of the Association at all levels to "fool" members. Because these types of papers do not have the signature and seal of any Association at all levels, not to mention the words printed on them are often meaningless.
Bad guys are continuing to take advantage of the trust of people in mountainous areas to carry out scams. We hope people will be extremely vigilant, lest they fall into the "traps" of bad guys.
