Nghe An: Consumer price index in May increased by 0.30%
(Baonghean.vn) - The consumer price index in May 2016 in Nghe An province increased by 0.30% compared to April and increased by 2.85% compared to the same period last year.
Thus, on average in the first 5 months of 2016, the CPI index increased by 2.50% over the same period last year.
The main reason for the CPI increase in the province this month is due to the continuous increase in gasoline prices twice on May 5 and May 20 with a total increase of 900-950 VND/liter, pushing the price index of the transportation group to the highest increase in the month with an increase of 2.11% compared to the previous month.

May 2016 is the beginning of the tourist season in the province, the April 30 and May 1 holidays are long, so the supply and demand of the culture, entertainment and tourism group increases, so the price index of this group increases by 2.01% compared to the previous month; along with that, the beverage and tobacco group increases by 0.34%; the groups with slightly increased indexes are: Household equipment and appliances group increases by 0.03%; medicine and medical services group, education group both increase by 0.02%.
The group with the largest weight in the price index basket is the food and catering services group, which increased by 0.15%. The reason is that localities in the province are at the end of the crop season, so supply has decreased. On the other hand, the prolonged hot weather in the past few months in the rice granary of the Mekong Delta has affected the crop, causing rice prices to increase. Therefore, the food price index in Nghe An province increased by 1.46%.

The food and catering services group decreased by 0.16% compared to the previous month due to abundant supply of vegetables and fruits, so the prices of some seasonal vegetables decreased by 10-30% compared to the previous month.
The remaining 4/11 commodity groups had price indexes decreasing with a decrease of 0.12% - 0.51%, namely: Garment, hats, shoes and sandals decreased by 0.51%; housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials decreased by 0.41%; Post and telecommunications, other goods and services decreased by 0.12%.
Gold and US dollar market: Gold price in Nghe An market increased again (up 0.59%) compared to the previous month, up 4.72% compared to December 2015, up 0.48% compared to the same period. The price of 9999 gold sold in the private market is commonly at 3,388 million VND/tael; In the same direction as the gold price, the US dollar index increased 0.25% compared to the previous month and decreased 1.83% compared to December 2015 and increased 1.47% compared to the same period last year, the US dollar selling price of foreign trade banks has an average price of 22,332 VND/USD.
