Putin went to Sochi to watch the Formula 1 race.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive in Sochi on Sunday, May 1st, the location of a stage of the Formula 1 world championship race, according to the Kremlin press service.

"In early May this year, President Vladimir Putin will visit the Formula-1 World Championships in Sochi," the statement said.

For the third time in history, the "Formula-1" Grand Prix race will be held in Sochi, from April 29th to May 1st.
