Three beautiful girls shared their sincere thoughts about the "Business plan contest""past and future plans.

With the idea of opening a Vietnamese food store in Japan, three Vietnamese girls, Quynh Trang, Huyen Trang and My Huyen, won first prize in the "Business plan contest" organized by IPU (International Pacific University).

The winner was granted 1.5 million Japanese yen (equivalent to 300 million VND) by the President of Soshi Group to develop the project next October.

Let's chat with these 3 talented and beautiful young girls to better understand the impressive achievements they have just made in your country.

Hello everyone! Can you briefly introduce yourself and the "Business plan contest" you just participated in?

Hello! We are Quynh Trang, Huyen Trang and My Huyen; students of IPU (International Pacific University), Okayama, Japan.

"Business plan contest" is a business plan contest held for the first time at IPU University.

After nearly 2 months of qualifying rounds and 10 minutes of presentation in the final round, we were lucky to win and receive financial support from the school to turn the project on paper into reality in the future.

What chance brought the three of you together to form a group and participate in this competition?

In the group, Quynh Trang and Huyen Trang have been close friends for a long time. Not only do they study in the same department, they also have many things in common in terms of interests and future business goals.

Therefore, when they heard about the contest, both of them saw this as a great opportunity to try their hand and gain experience, so they invited Huyen Trang's twin sister - My Huyen, who has a very good ability in PR Marketing, to form a group and register to participate.

Why did you choose the Vietnamese food business model as your competition idea?

A business model that meets market needs and is suitable for the reality in Okayama (Japan) is also one of the judging criteria.

After researching and analyzing the market in Okayama, we found that there is no store here specializing in Vietnamese products while the number of Vietnamese people here is increasing very quickly.

Besides, we often joke with each other that we should try until the project is successful, then we can eat Vietnamese food every day, and won't have to crave it like now. (Laughs)

What are each of your strengths and how do you divide the work?

My Huyen has good aesthetic taste and solid knowledge of marketing, so the group assigned her to be in charge of store design and marketing strategy.

Huyen Trang is responsible for market analysis, product sourcing and is the member who has to run around the most in the group (laughs). Quynh Trang is responsible for planning and strategizing the business as well as the way the store operates.

Did you encounter many difficulties during the competition?

Yes, we encountered many difficulties (Laughs). Firstly, because all three of us did not have much experience and necessary professional knowledge.

Furthermore, the time we lived and studied in Japan was not long enough to help us understand the business sector in Japan, the needs of Japanese customers for services...

In addition, having to balance the time spent on the competition with study time and other activities also gave the whole group quite a headache.

During the process, did the three of you have any conflicts or arguments?

Indeed, conflicts are inevitable when working in a group, especially among 3 girls (Laughs). When entering the final stage, the time is urgent - the tense atmosphere is the "favorable time, favorable place" context leading to fierce debates.

Everyone insisted on defending their own point of view (laughs). Fortunately, the whole group usually understood and agreed with each other, so there were no major conflicts and opinions were quickly agreed upon.

Are there any interesting memories during the competition that you remember the most?

We have many happy and memorable memories during our time as a group. Although we always focused on the plan with the highest spirit possible, suddenly someone mentioned a "compatible" topic and the three of us turned to "gossip" enthusiastically "forgetting the world, forgetting the days and months".

Or there are days when the three of us make an appointment to go to each other's house to work, but we end up cooking and eating all afternoon without doing anything.

The most memorable days were the days leading up to the presentation. Because we had to rush to complete and prepare for the competition, all three of us lacked sleep.

While encouraging each other to try a little harder, Huyen turned around and cried: "Dude, can you let me sleep for a little bit? I can't stand it anymore..."

Thuong Huyen, let Huyen rest a bit and then somehow the other two girls unconsciously went to "rest" too. (Laughs)

Khi làm việc nhóm thì cả 3 cô gái đều không tránh khỏi những tranh cãi nhỏ. Nhưng cuối cùng họ vẫn có thể tự giải quyết được các vấn đề.
When working in groups, the three girls cannot avoid small arguments. But in the end, they can still solve the problems themselves.

Being together for such a long time, have you discovered interesting things about each other?

Yes. Quynh Trang, whenever she is stressed, she runs to the bathroom without thinking, so she is often teased for skipping work. Huyen Trang is the one who often encourages the team and is very diligent in preparing "nutritious" food for the whole team.

As the only group with 3 contestants who are all Vietnamese, do you feel at a disadvantage compared to other competitors?

The group having only three Vietnamese people was a big difficulty for the group, as the Japanese proficiency of all three could not be said to be proficient; especially when participating in the competition, it required consulting documents, discussing professional issues and especially presenting plans and giving feedback through many rounds.

In your opinion, what is the decisive factor for your success in this competition?

There are many factors that helped us win; including the enthusiastic guidance and advice from the teachers in the department, along with the advice and experience from our Vietnamese seniors in Japan.

In addition, we cannot forget the luck factor, the last-minute effort, the ability of each individual and the good coordination between us during the competition.

Your business model is expected to go into operation next October, so what have you prepared for it now? With that bonus, how will you manage and develop this model?

The October timeline is given in the plan as a destination, however when implementing we want to prepare well and carefully to start smoothly. Opening a store anywhere is never a simple and quick thing.

In the near future, My Huyen and Huyen Trang will return to Vietnam during the summer to find and contact suppliers, while Quynh Trang will thoroughly research how to develop a business in Japan.

For three 19-year-old girls like us, having a large amount of money and using it wisely is not an easy task. However, to start a business, 1.50 million yen is not a large enough amount of capital.

We are considering carefully and consulting with experts to use this investment effectively and for the right purpose.

Do you have any plans to bring this model to other places in Japan or further to other countries?

If the business model is successful, in the future we would like to develop more Japanese food business in Vietnam and if we are lucky, we hope to open a small Vietnamese food shop, self-sufficient from ingredients imported at the store.

Thank you and wish you more success with your project!
