China: Thought to be adopting a dog, turned out to be adopting a… bear

(Baonghean.vn) - A Chinese farmer thought he had adopted a cute puppy until he discovered it was an Asian black bear cub.

Accidentally coming across a cute puppy, a farmer in Yunnan province, China, without a second thought, decided to take the dog home to raise.

However, after only a few weeks, he began to notice strange things about his “new friend”: this puppy had no tail and grew abnormally fast.

The owner eventually realized that the animal he had picked up was not a dog but an Asian black bear - an animal on the protected list, often a "delicious prey" for poachers because some parts of the bear's body are often considered a delicacy or used as ingredients in traditional medicine.
