The world's largest luxury cruise ship is about to set sail

Harmony of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship with an ultra-luxury design, will set sail today for its maiden voyage after two and a half years of construction.

According to France 24, the giant 10-story ship has been officially built by the shipbuilder.STX Francehandover to the parent companyRoyal Caribbean Cruises 10 days before first departure.

With a capacity of 6,360 passengers,Harmony of the Seas has 2,700 cabins, 16 decks and a crew of more than 2,100. It is the length of three football fields and has a gross tonnage of 226,000 tons.

Some of the ship's other impressive features include the longest slide at sea, two 13-meter-high climbing walls and an ice skating rink.

STX France branchNearly 1 billion euros to build the ship with a completion time of two and a half years.

Harmony of the Seas will cruise fromSaint-Nazaire, France toSouthampton, England, on May 15, where it will welcome its first passengers.
