(Baonghean.vn) -As the first person in Quynh Luu to bring pheasants home to raise, Mr. Vo Van Tham in hamlet 4, Quynh Hoa commune has been successful with this breed of animal, his family earns 300 million VND each year.

In 2009, by chance reading the newspaper and seeing a high-income pheasant farming model of a household in the North, Mr. Vo Van Tham learned about it and decided to bring this pheasant breed home to raise at home. To have the breed, Mr. Tham went to Thuy Phuong Livestock and Poultry Institute (Hanoi) to buy 100 pheasant eggs to incubate and breed.

After 4 months of raising, the birds began to lay eggs, each female laid 250 - 300 eggs/batch, the weight of the bird eggs was 65% of the weight of chicken eggs. He put the eggs in an experimental incubation, the result was that after 24 days, they hatched into chicks with a hatching rate of over 80% of the total number of eggs incubated.

Mr. Tran Van Dung - Chairman of Quynh Hoa Commune People's Committee said: "Mr. Vo Van Tham's pheasant farming is a farming model with higher income than other livestock breeds in the locality at present. In addition to enriching his family, Mr. Tham also helps local people develop the pheasant farming model, enthusiastically instructs them on bird farming techniques and sells the chicks at a cheaper price than the market price so that people can develop their family economy".
