Vietnam's Internet continues to be the slowest in the region
This is according to the latest global Internet trends research from Akamai.
Akamai, a world-renowned content delivery network service provider, recently released a study on trends inInternetThe latest State of the Internet global report with statistics from Q1 2016. This is a study that Akamai has conducted quarterly for the past few years.
According to Akamai statistics, Vietnam's average Internet connection speed reached 5.0 Mbps in the first quarter of this year. In the Asia Pacific region, this figure is only slightly higher than what the Philippines (3.5 Mbps) and India (3.5 Mbps) achieved.
However, according to Akamai, Vietnam's Internet performance has shown the most impressive growth in the region. Specifically, it increased by 31% compared to the previous quarter and increased by 59% compared to the same period last year. In the first quarter, the maximum Internet speed that Akamai measured in Vietnam reached 34.1 Mbps, ranking above China (31 Mbps), the Philippines (29.9 Mbps) and India (25.5 Mbps).
In the region, the countries/territories with the highest Internet speeds are still familiar names in this previous ranking, including South Korea (29 Mbps), Hong Kong (19.9 Mbps), Japan (18.2 Mbps), Singapore (16.5 Mbps) and Taiwan (14.8 Mbps). South Korea is also the country with the best Internet connection speed in the world.
