Stuffing dozens of kilograms of rosewood in a car

Through checking cars violating the Traffic Law, Traffic Police Team No. 15, Road and Railway Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police discovered dozens of kilograms of rosewood of unknown origin on the vehicle.

At around 3:00 p.m. on June 23, a working group of Traffic Police Team No. 15, Road and Railway Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police, led by Captain Nguyen Ngoc Tien, was on duty on Vo Van Kiet Street, passing through Soc Son District, when they discovered a car with license plate 29D-038.59 traveling from Noi Bai Airport to the center of Hanoi in violation of the Traffic Law and signaled it to stop for inspection.

Upon inspection, the driver of the car, Le Van Duan (born in 1988, living in Thanh Oai, Hanoi), presented an expired B2 driver's license. At the time of the traffic police inspection, there was also Ms. Nguyen Thi Que (born in 1961) in the car who claimed to be the driver's mother.

Continuing to inspect the car, the traffic police discovered 15 pieces of wood wrapped in pineapple sacks. The driver declared that the wood was rosewood and that the mother and son had bought it to bring home to process into wood products. The driver could not present any documents or invoices proving the origin of the rosewood. The total weight of the rosewood was determined to be 65kg.

The working group has handed over the exhibits and related documents to Kim Anh Police Station for handling and settlement.

Previously, Captain Nguyen Ngoc Tien and officers of Traffic Police Team No. 15 discovered and seized many cases of transporting smuggled goods and dirty food on trucks and passenger cars passing through the area.
