Lying alone beside the terraced fields in Lien Dinh village - Chi Khe - Con Cuong is a large rock. The rough rock is almost as tall as a person's head and stands alone in the middle of a rice-growing area. Except during harvest time, this place is quite deserted. Therefore, every time people pass by the rock, their hair stands on end and their skin crawls because of the thrilling legends about it.

People call it Tong Chai field. Not far from the rock is the ghost forest, the local name for the community cemetery.

Lien Dinh village is a long-standing residential area of ​​Thai people. In feudal times, it was called Muong Chai. They are said to live in a deep cave at the bottom of the Lam River at a section of the river called Vang Cua, about 1km from the rock.

There is a story passed down through many generations that: Seeing a strange, handsome man entering the village, the girls spread out a mat to invite him to sit but he did not dare to sit. While performing the magic, there were still thorns on his back and buttocks. The dragon was afraid that when he sat on the thorns, the mat would get stuck and reveal his identity.

One night, after drinking too much, the boys in the village decided to compete to see who was the strongest. They competed by carrying rocks from the stream to Tong Chai field. While the boys were slowly shaping the rocks, the dragon boy ran across the Lam River, carried a rock as big as a stilt house, placed it next to the rice field and invited everyone to “sit on the chair”.

The village boys were shocked to realize that the friend they had been drinking with and playing the flute to flirt with girls for so long was the Lam River dragon. Since his identity was revealed, the dragon did not dare to set foot in the village again.

On bright moonlit nights, or after night storms, people sometimes hear the sound of flutes echoing from the white rock in the middle of Tong Chai field. Interspersed with the sound of stars is the singing: “The Dragon Vang Xang, Vang Cua is the West, it is me.” Because of these legends, for a long time, people in the area were afraid to walk across the dragon’s chair rock alone, especially at night.
