Once they spotted their "prey," Dinh drove the car against the traffic, crashing straight into the vehicle and forcing the driver to stop. Then, one of the group members smashed the windshield with a rock, used a knife to threaten the occupants, took the keys, and forced them to hand over money and valuables.

On the morning of July 15th, the Cam Ranh City Police, Khanh Hoa province, arrested three suspects involved in a series of taxi and car robberies in Cam Ranh City and Cam Lam district that had caused a public outcry recently. The three suspects are: Vo Van Dinh, Vo Ngoc Ly (both 18 years old, residing in Cam Ranh City) and Thai Phi Hung Anh (18 years old, residing in Cam Lam district).

Previously, in late May 2016, a series of incidents occurred on the route from Nha Trang to Cam Ranh Airport (Nguyen Tat Thanh Boulevard, Cam Nghia Ward, Cam Ranh City, Khanh Hoa Province) where taxis were stopped and passengers' belongings were robbed.

Recognizing this as a particularly serious case affecting public order and tourism security, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Police established a special task force to investigate the suspects and reassure the public. Hundreds of police officers and criminal investigation forces from the provincial to local levels participated in the task force, primarily the Criminal Investigation Department of Cam Ranh City Police, Cam Lam District Police, and the Provincial Criminal Investigation Department.

While the Cam Ranh City Police were deploying all their forces to investigate, at approximately 1:30 AM on July 15th, a carjacking and robbery occurred in Hiep Thanh village, Cam Thinh Dong commune, Cam Ranh City. Upon receiving the report and employing a coordinated approach, about 40 minutes later, the police apprehended Vo Van Dinh approximately 1km from the crime scene. Based on Dinh's confession, the police arrested Anh and Ly at their homes that same morning.

At the police station, Dinh confessed that he was the mastermind behind all the taxi and car robberies in the area recently. The gang's modus operandi was to take advantage of the early morning hours, driving recklessly on National Highway 1. When they spotted a "target," Dinh would drive against the traffic, crashing straight into the car and forcing the driver to stop.

Then, one of the group used a rock to smash the windshield, then used a knife to threaten the occupants, take the keys, and force them to hand over money and valuables. After arresting three suspects, the Cam Ranh City Police seized evidence including three motorbikes, a sharp knife, and a rock. Currently, the Criminal Investigation Department is continuing to investigate and expand the case.
