Japanese experts highly appreciate Quynh Luu's vegetable production potential

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 14, a delegation of agricultural experts from Gifu province, Japan visited and worked in Quynh Luu district.

Also attending were representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and JICA Project Coordination Office in Nghe An.

At the meeting, leaders of Quynh Luu district introduced to the delegation the potential and strengths of the locality. The whole district currently has more than 1,000 hectares of vegetable production of all kinds, mainly concentrated in the Bai Ngang specialized area with an area of ​​about 800 hectares. The total vegetable output of the district reaches more than 50 thousand tons/year.

In recent times, along with support mechanisms from higher levels, the district has implemented many policies to encourage people to produce clean and safe vegetables following VietGAP standards in Quynh Luong commune with an area of ​​10 hectares. In the near future, the district will build two more VietGAP vegetable production models in Quynh Minh and Quynh Bang communes.

However, the reality of clean vegetable production in Quynh Luu also faces many difficulties such as unsynchronized infrastructure conditions, mainly dependent on nature; the implementation of vegetable cultivation in net houses and greenhouses is still difficult, leading to the emergence of many harmful pests and diseases; the organization of linkages according to the value chain is not effective, most people produce and find their own output for the products; small-scale, fragmented production results in limited application of scientific and technological advances...

Phu Luong Vegetable Cooperative (Quynh Luong commune) produces and supplies the market with 400-500 tons of vegetables/year.

Quynh Luu district leaders hope that Gifu province's agricultural experts will advise and make recommendations to their superiors to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two localities, and at the same time serve as a bridge to tighten cooperation in a better and more effective spirit.

Quynh Luu hopes that Gifu province will pay attention to introducing and helping the district build a number of vegetable production models using advanced Japanese techniques, and at the same time coordinate to help train and improve the management capacity of cooperatives and cooperatives in the district.

Quynh Luu also proposed that Gifu province share its experience and knowledge so that the district can build agricultural processing factories to increase the value of agricultural products, thereby helping Quynh Luu agricultural products to enter more famous supermarkets and restaurants, contributing to increasing income for farmers.

The Gifu prefecture agricultural experts highly appreciated the potential and advantages of Quynh Luu in producing clean vegetables, tubers and fruits. The delegation also suggested some effective economic development directions to increase the value of vegetable production. Based on this visit, the delegation will propose to the superiors to consider promoting exchanges, cooperation and introducing Japanese enterprises to invest and do business in Quynh Luu.

In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited the Bai Ngang concentrated vegetable production area and Phu Luong safe vegetable production cooperative, Quynh Luong commune.
