A quick test came back positive for drugs. After learning the results, Jack's owner, Isaiah Nathaniel Sais, 21, took him away from the veterinary center. Concerned for the dog's life, veterinarians contacted city animal protection officials who came to Sais' home.
At the Sais home, the animal protection staff noticed that Jack was still high on drugs and showing signs of neglect, so they took him back to Upland Veterinary Center for treatment. Jack is sensitive to noise and has a tendency to move suddenly. Once he recovers, Jack will be placed in a foster home.
Fontana police arrested Sais on suspicion of animal cruelty. He appeared in court on July 11 and posted $50,000 bail.
