Nghe An's rare Sa mu dau population recognized as heritage trees
(Baonghean.vn) – This good news was just announced by the Pu Hoat Nature Reserve Management Board this morning (July 8).

According to the Management Board of Pu Hoat Nature Reserve, the unit has just received Official Dispatch No. 247 from the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment.

In Official Dispatch 247, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh - Chairman of the Association for Nature and Environment Protection announced that he had received an application from the Pu Hoat Nature Reserve Management Board requesting recognition of a population of 56 Sa mu dau trees (in sub-areas 59 and 61 in Tien Phong commune, Que Phong district).

In mid-June 2016, the Association held a meeting, reviewed and concluded that 56 Sa mu dau trees that Pu Hoat Nature Reserve Management Board had registered met the standards to be Vietnam Heritage Trees.

Also in Official Dispatch 247, the Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment requested the Management Board of Pu Hoat Nature Reserve to prepare the organization for the Association to carry out the awarding of the Decision and Certificate of recognition as a Vietnam Heritage Tree.

“Along with the recognition of the population of 56 Sa mu dau trees, the Association for Nature and Environment Conservation has issued Official Dispatch No. 248 recognizing 5 Phay Sung (Sang vi) trees in sub-area 59 of Pu Hoat Nature Reserve as Vietnam Heritage Trees…” – said Mr. Nguyen Danh Hung, Director of Pu Hoat Nature Reserve Management Board.
