Dignitaries with rude statements: Must be fired, this 'disease' will subside

Contributing to the discussion on how to cure the "disease" of "rude speech" by dignitaries, many experts said that only dismissal or forced resignation can end the phenomenon of disregarding public opinion and making rude speech like this.

This morning, in Tien Phong newspaper, Mr. Tran Anh Tu, Deputy General Director of Hanoi Railway One Member Co., Ltd., apologized to the reporter, the newspaper and the readers. This story of rude statements can be considered over because the Vietnamese people are very forgiving and tolerant. However, from the perspective of law and social management, how to reduce rude statements of "high-ranking officials" is something that should be done and must be done.

From the perspective of a legal practitioner, lawyer Pham Cong Ut (Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association) commented: Indeed, the more we read about private exchanges between an interviewee with a certain position in society and the press, the more shocking statements we see from people in management roles. If the press does not include an introduction about their position, readers will consider such statements as vulgar speech on the street or in the market, not from people with positions in the state apparatus or from high-ranking officials of a unit.

“When I read my own statements in the newspaper, I don’t think the spokesperson would feel ashamed of his own words, maybe they would even feel happy. Because that is the individual personality that they are used to behaving in every day when facing people who are not their superiors” - Lawyer Ut shared.

Lawyer Ut added that these types of statements are not only from dignitaries, but also from respected people with academic titles and degrees, university principals, or from business dignitaries... even magazine "editors-in-chief".

“So it is not necessarily from the theoretical operation of the state and law, but first of all, we need to review the system. Because with the university president still making such vulgar and vulgar statements, the students after graduating will become dignitaries and officials throughout society, and will inevitably have copies of their teachers' personalities,” Lawyer Pham Cong Ut worried.

According to the lawyer, except for the honest people, when communicating to answer the press, they can reveal all their honesty, no one can blame them, but when a person has a certain position holding a management position that has a certain influence on the social cycle, they must show not only their personal image, but also the image and reputation of their agency or organization. Therefore, sometimes personal personality tarnishes the collective image.

“Therefore, units and organizations that are closely related to people's needs need leaders who are proficient in their profession and have ethical standards. You can make a wrong statement and then correct it, but you cannot insult the public, represented by the journalist who is interviewing you to help dispel the public's suspicions that are making noise in the media,” emphasized Lawyer Ut.

According to lawyer Pham Cong Ut, in reality, the handling of cases in our country is often lenient due to the "process" of handling disciplinary actions against officials and civil servants, lacking the strong determination of the person with the highest responsibility. Looking at the Formosa case, one of their officials lost his job right after making shocking statements to the press. If it were in our country, it would be... strictly learning from experience or transferring to another job with a better position after receiving harsh public reactions.

"I still believe that when the terms forced resignation, dismissal, and dismissal are legalized, then statements like "the sky is the limit" and "public opinion is nothing" will no longer exist," said Lawyer Ut.
