(Baonghean.vn) -Vuc Mau Lake is an irrigation project providing water for 3,600 hectares of agricultural land and drinking water for 100,000 people in Hoang Mai town. Furthermore, Vuc Mau Lake helps hundreds of households earn a living through aquaculture and fishing, including the practice of using raft nets to catch fish in the canals at midnight.

The fishing nets are made from bamboo poles woven into a frame. Each net covers approximately 400 square meters. The entire frame floats on the water's surface and is anchored with ropes or stones to hold it in place.
Fishing with raft nets is most effective at night by using lights to attract fish.
Each fishing raft cost approximately 15 million VND to build.
The fishing net is enclosed in the middle of the lake.
At 3 a.m., Mr. Nguyen Quang Duy (Hamlet 4, Quynh Thang) went to Vuc Mau lake to cast his net and catch fish.
Shake the net to catch fish.
Each time they use a raft net, they catch 30-40 kg of fish, with minnows being the most common type.
After a night of casting his nets, Mr. Nguyen Quang Duy caught over 80kg of minnows.
A catch of fish was brought onto the boat.
Currently, there are 15 households on Vuc Mau Lake engaged in fishing using raft nets.
As dawn broke, the fishermen returned to shore.
Trays of freshly caught mudfish are being bought on the spot by traders. Mudfish are sold wholesale at 10,000 VND/kg, while retail prices range from 20,000 to 30,000 VND/kg.
