Coach Huu Thang: My dream is to become a pilot

Becoming a professional player and successful in his coaching career, Coach Huu Thang once revealed: "When I was in school, my dream was to become a soldier, especially a good pilot."

Talking about his childhood, Coach Huu Thang recalled that many times the school board sent home letters asking Huu Thang's family to compensate for the damage caused by broken windows. That was the result of forgetting to eat and study during football matches. Later, the head coach of the national team still admitted that the amount of money the school asked for compensation was beyond his family's financial capacity.

Coach Nguyen Huu Thang is a symbol of Nghe An football with a strong and experienced personality.

There are 4 brothers in the family, but only coach Nguyen Huu Thang follows the path of football. In the 1980s, a full meal was a concern for many families and Huu Thang's parents were no exception. Practicing football enthusiastically and growing up so fast, Huu Thang ate very well. "Many times, my mother said she was full, you guys should eat. I thought she was really full. Later, I learned that my mother had gone hungry so that I could eat and have the energy to play football," Huu Thang emotionally recounted.

The childhood of Huu Thang and many other stars from Nghe An was not really peaceful, even miserable. But thanks to those hard days, they were honed to be strong and brave, which is how they have achieved success today.

Now, having begun to reap the first sweet fruits, Coach Nguyen Huu Thang still hopes that his two sons Nguyen Huu Trieu Phong and Nguyen Huu Trieu Chau will succeed him.

He said that if his son shows his passion and talent, he will definitely respect his son's interests. His eldest son Trieu Phong still practices 3 times a week at SLNA's youth team. Maybe one day soon, fans will once again see the "successor" of coach Nguyen Huu Thang in the lineup of the Nghe An team.

While working near home, Coach Nguyen Huu Thang spent most of his time taking care of his two sons. Taking on the responsibility of the national team, all the hardships once again fell on the shoulders of his wife - Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, who is currently working as a bank officer.
