Japan: Stabbing at disability center kills 15 people

(Baonghean.vn)- The suspect, who said he used to work at the Tsukui Yamayuri-en center for the disabled, used a knife to stab 15 people to death and injured 45 others at dawn.

Kyodo news agency said a man in his 20s was arrested this morning after stabbing 15 people to death and injuring 45 others at a facility for the disabled in Kanagawa prefecture, Japan.

According to Japanese media, 4 people are showing signs of life, 20 people are seriously injured. The victims are between 60 and 80 years old.

Kanagawa police said the suspect carried out the attack at the Tsukui Yamayuri-en disability center in Sagamihara Ward at 2:30 a.m. and later turned himself in at a police station. The suspect said he used to work at the center. He also said he wanted to "eliminate disabled people from the world."

A witness living near the center said a blond man wearing black clothes was arrested by police.

The death toll is expected to rise as four people were injured and are in critical condition, police said.

Tsukui Yamayuri-en Center provides accommodation and care services for people with disabilities, and has facilities such as a swimming pool, gym, and medical room.
