PG, PB are the abbreviations of the phrases “promotion girl” and “promotion boy” used to refer to girls and boys who work as cheerleaders to promote products. They often appear in marketing campaigns with beautiful outfits and cute faces. At that moment, they are the representatives of a certain product line or brand.

Tall, attractive, youthful face, fluent speech, good communication skills... are the factors needed to become a PG, PB. These people represent the company's or brand's products, directly introduce the products to customers, must necessarily have all the factors that make customers feel sympathetic, come to see and be easily attracted by the way the PG, PB speaks.

PG, PB is becoming a part-time job chosen by young people, especially students, in recent years in Vinh city. Of course, not everyone is "lucky" to be accepted by companies and firms to do this job. Meanwhile, there are many students who are quite easily, even continuously "invited" to be PG, PB.

Nguyen Hai Yen, a third-year student (Faculty of Economics - Vinh University) has 2 years of experience as a PG. Yen got into this profession when her close friend (also a PG) had an urgent matter and asked Yen to replace her. Yen has a lovely face, is quick, and communicates flexibly, so when she replaced her friend, she did the job quite smoothly. After that time, Yen caught the eye of the company's brand manager and was continuously called to work when there were promotional programs or new product launches.

Yen said that being a PG is quite comfortable, not constrained by time, does not affect studying, the salary for each day of travel is from 200,000 VND to 350,000 VND, depending on the program. Therefore, Yen really likes the PG job and has become a familiar cheerleader for many brands such as: Maggi, Chinsu, Dutch Lady, Vifon...

Before becoming a PG or PB, each person is trained at the company and tested with other employees through interviews.

PGs and PBs are usually done in batches, short-term and not fixed in time. Depending on the program, the advertising brand can work for a month or half a month. Therefore, students who often do this job do not have much impact on their studies. Even if they are suddenly busy, they can ask someone else to do it for them, Yen shared.

“The PG and PB profession does not put pressure on revenue or sales. The better the product is sold, the better. If you can’t sell it, you still get a regular salary. The salary for a program in a week is much higher than the salary for a month of waiting tables at a coffee shop. The work is easy, so all young people like to do this job,” said Cong Anh (23 years old), who is currently studying phone repair (Nguyen Du street) but has nearly 3 years of experience in marketing and advertising.

“Being a PG and PB has helped me earn more income and save some of my family’s tuition fees. This job also helps me to be more confident and speak better.
