Smart home initiative in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Security monitoring, gas leak alarms... when away from home are complicated issues that make many families worried. Therefore, teacher Trinh Long (born in 1989), currently a lecturer at the Faculty of Industrial Electricity, Vietnam - Korea Industrial Technical Vocational College, hascreative ideas for building a “smart home”.
As a technology enthusiast, teacher Trinh Long always cherishes the idea of building a smart home, serving the maximum needs of life. Sharing about the idea of building the topic "Smart Home", Mr. Long said: In fact, many smart homes have been built, with many very modern and practical technological ideas. But most of the current smart home systems in Vietnam are only applied to villas and families with economic conditions. I want to design a smart controller that meets the requirements of users at an affordable price, can be installed in apartments; replace old common electrical systems without having to replace the wiring structure.

The smart home is designed with many modern devices: Gas leak alarm, automatic power on/off, temperature monitoring, watering system for ornamental plants, garden warning, home protection system.
For example, with a gas leak alarm, the system will have a sensor that detects gas in the kitchen. When gas leaks out, the sensor will notify the homeowner via phone and the alarm will sound at the central control unit.
Or for home security systems, when setting the mode, the system automatically notifies the homeowner via phone, so that the homeowner can report to the police; can combine with remote surveillance cameras to see the actual status of the house. Even if the thief cuts off the power, the system has a backup power source, so the homeowner will be notified when there is a power outage.

In his research topic, teacher Long also created a camera system to record all activities in the family, monitor security when necessary and especially monitor and supervise remotely via the internet.
Mr. Long said that the system can connect to a solar battery system to save electricity for the family, the controller can be applied to convert the traditional electrical system to a smart system without affecting the structure of the house wall...
The smart home project won 3rd prize for creative ideas of Nghe An province's youth science and technology in 2015.
Along with this topic, currently, with the investment of the Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Trinh Long is investing in a pilot project of a smart irrigation system.

Lecturer Trinh Long is nurturing research into many innovative technology projects that can be applied in practice. |
Mr. Long shared: In recent years, people have used manual irrigation systems such as using water buckets, using diesel pumps, electric pumps... but they have not brought about efficiency in irrigation. On the other hand, the cost of gasoline, electricity, and labor is still very high, leading to a significant decrease in people's profits.
Overcoming these limitations, the smart irrigation system will apply remote control technology, convenient for users. The control mode according to humidity, temperature, and time is rich, can be applied to many different farms and crops. Using the Analog signal of the water pressure sensor, returning the signal to the PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) control, bringing high spray pressure stability. Using Android phone software to operate control and monitoring.

If successful, the project will contribute to improving crop growth efficiency, reducing water loss costs, reducing labor costs, being convenient for people on long business trips, and especially applicable on a large scale, with rotational use.
In addition to crop care, the control method can be effectively applied to cooling bath systems for dairy cows, food and water control systems for livestock and poultry farms...
"Both scientific topics: Smart House and Smart Irrigation System have won high prizes in the province, with high potential for practical application. As for the pilot project of the smart irrigation system, we are currently coordinating with the Department of Science and Technology to implement it. We hope that investors, businesses, and individuals will be interested in investing funds to produce the product; promptly apply it widely in production, business and in life." - Mr. Trinh Long said.
